“2 nights at Summrefields”

We choose the perfect place to stay in Hazyview. This accomodation exceeded our expectations! Not only the lovely room - also the lunch and dinner next to the river, the wonderful spa treatments as well as the friendly staff made our stay pleasant. We will come back for sure.

“Excellent”

I have seen, but sadly not stayed in the fabulous luxe safari tents along the river at Summerfields. I have, however stayed at the beautiful Stone Cottage. More importantly, however, I have had some of the most amazing spa treatments at one of the tents perched over the Sabi River. No canned spa music required here when you have the river rushing by just outside the tent. On cooler days, the spa beds are heated - pure bliss. We have also dined often at both the River Cafe (light dining for lunch) and the phenomenal Kitchen Restaurant for dinner. Both are spectacular, using gorgeous fresh produce sourced from their own gardens, and using seasonal items only. Both restaurants have very limited menus that change frequently - a requirement in my mind of a truly fine dining establishment. My friend had the hot stone massage from Mumcy today, and I was told that she is an absolute magician. Afterwards dear Jonathon once again waited on us at River Cafe where we had the seafood tapas platter (and the chef indulged me by including the pork belly from one of the other tapas platters), and it rivaled the farm-to-table tapas platter we had yesterday. I will be going back later this week for a half-day spa package. Suffice it to say we adore Summerfields. Did I mention the spectacular roses??

From this lodge you can easily visit Krugerpark and Drakenberg.Perfect place. There is an restaurant and a bar near the river. Diner and breakfast are very good . It's all in the middle of een macadamia farm. There are 8 luxury tents with bath and shower outside. Beautiful view over the river.

“Blowing away international visitors”

I had some important business guests from overseas and wanted somewhere that wasn't the normal 'bush' experience. The solitude, peace, tranquility and sheer class of Summerfields was way beyond their expectations.

“Oasis on the Sabie.”

We booked a Forest room full board and spa package as a midway break to our safaris in Kruger and were delighted with every aspect of our stay here. Shaun greeted us at the front gates and took care of all our needs. He had the ability to be just about everywhere at once, so much so that we thought he had a twin brother employed here as well. The Forest room was peaceful and luxurious and the spa treatments were divine. Dinner and breakfast were a real treat and the service levels from all staff was exceptional. We particularly enjoyed walking off a huge breakfast around the grounds of this beautiful property. I highly recommend the Spa treatments and both dining facilities here, and if you are also able to stay a few nights you will certainly depart feeling refreshed and happy.

“Incomparable Glamping Experience”

It really isn't possible to explain what it is like to spend a night under canvass in a macadamia nut farm with a fine dining restaurant, a riverside restaurant, a tented library and a spa. The best advice I have is that this is somewhere for the marginally more adventurous traveller who seeks elegance in the outdoors.

“A rare jewel in Mpumalanga's crown”

A real find! Such a special place tucked away in beautiful surroundings. The breakfasts, overlooking the Sabi river, were excellent and the freshly laid eggs were a joy to eat. The dinners, fronted by top chef, Jack, were of a very high standard and worthy of any top restaurant in London, Paris, New York etc. Much enjoyed the Rose Spa treatments - thank you Janine for your caring touch and infectious sense of humour. Nothing was too much trouble for Sean and his obliging team. I would highly recommend Summerfields to all who want a "getaway break", to be close to nature with all the "frills".

“An absolute treat!”

Much to our delight we discovered Summerfields while staying in a nearby area. We went to the River Cafe twice in a row because we loved the delicious food, great service and beautiful setting of the Sabi River. We also decided to get manicures the Spa, which was an absolute treat! The nail treatment room has lovely glass walls, which allows you to relax while looking at the beautiful environment of Summerfields. Will definitely be coming back! Hopefully next time to try the accommodation.

“Awesome... Stunning.... Beautiful!”

This is one of the most beautiful and relaxing places we have visited so far... The staff and management are friendly, professional and extremely helpful. We were made to feel at home from the moment we arrived and they could do no more to make our stay pleasant! The luxury tents are clean, spacious and private. These are set in a forest on the banks of the Sabie river. The Restaurant and River Cafe served fantastic meals. Thank you to all of the staff here for making this a pleasant stay!

“Paradise on earth”

This place is not only "Out of Africa" it is simply "out of this world". We enjoyed our stay here although too short. Everything was perfect and beautiful. I came with two friends but it would also be a wonderful place to share with a loved one and make him/her a surprise. We also got massage which was really fantastic. The pleasure this place procures is indescribable - it has to be experienced and I promise that you won't be disappointed. I can highly recommend and next time I will stay more than one night to be able to enjoy even more all the awesome facilities and possibilities of visiting and having a good and relaxed time. Thank you for having created such a magnificent place. Look forward to visiting again.

"The Eden garden"

I was about to say that this place was like an unspoiled island of the Eden garden: quite, nearby the rumbling of a river, surrounded by beautiful roses, macadamia and litchi trees, romantic suite with the bathtub overlooking the trees and a waterfall, managed by a young, international and dynamic team, offering outstanding and innovative bio-cuisine from a young Dutch chef (incl. nice SA wines), and most of all thanks to the help of the manager who had sorted out our issues with the rental car company (he made it possible to have a new car delivered on Christmas Day)…. I was about to say all that until, before we reached to our car on the parking, the very zealous check-out receptionist lady ran after us to check in our luggage if we didn’t "mistakenly" packed missing bath towels… of course these had been picked up by the maid..

"WOW Amazing"

Well all I can say is don't even think about it just go but you have stay for at least a weekend it's amazing from spa to restaurants to staff you can't go wrong luxury and more. Beautifully located absolute serenity. But the main restaurant is the way to go it's like eating in Paris but in the bush the best food you will have with out waiting for months to get in to a worthy restaurant somewhere else. I will be back for sure we stayed the newly are red cabin from the 28th of December until the 3rd of January and we loved every moment. Thank you for everything summerfields owners and staff we will see you soon again.

"Fabulous Spa treatment"

As a surprise gift my friend and I received a spa treatment and lunch at Summerfields. The setting is wonderful with the dining deck overlooking the river. Whilst having lunch a whole load of colourful canoes went by. For lunch we ordered 2 different platters - seafood platter really good/ deli platter just okay. Additional green beans and aubergine dishes great. Tough bread. And then the spa treatments - fabulous. We were treated with great care by Frasette and Annari [ hope I spelt it correct] who went out of her way to produce a herbal mixture to inhale for a troublesome cough I had. I really appreciated that - it worked. Thank you ladies you made our day.

"Summerfields River Cafe"

You will struggle to find a more idyllic setting than this. In the shade of the big indigenous trees, with the Sabie river trickling before you: you will experience great service, an interesting and flavourful menu, and some great wines to wash it all down with. This is a real good one!

"Beautiful and romantic"

My wife and I went to Summerfields for facials and back neck and shoulder massages and can safely say it was the best we've ever experienced. As you enter the gates you are met with a peaceful atmosphere full of beauty and tranquility. At the reception we were made to feel most welcome. We were ushered down to the bar lounge where we were offered drinks and had a relaxing warm foot bath filled with rose petals. We were then taken to the treatment rooms where we had our treatments. From the amazing atmospehere where the music is the flowing river to the brilliant treatments that were expertly done, we were blown away and did not want to leave. We will definitely be back for a weekend stay to experience even more of this heaven.

"Peaceful Paradise"

What an unforgettable experience, the property is beautifully situated inside a farm, the rustic luxury, roses and silverware I was amazed by the decor. The orchards of litchis and macadamia nuts as you drive to the spa/ cafe are a treat as the litchis were ready for picking. The attention to detail surpassed my expectations, the staff are friendly and really do take pride in what they do. I had a massage in a cabin that overlooked the river which was heavenly definitely the best spa in South Africa.

"Honeymoon stay at Summerfields."

Our stay at Summerfields was extraordinary. The staff and service is out of this world, 5 star all the way. The food is delicious. A definite honeymoon location for all those newlyweds!! The rooms are well serviced, clean and comfortable. The views of the Sabie river from the tented suites are amazing with seeing crocodiles.

"True 5 star luxury... In a tent!? YES!"

My wife and I decided to spend our 1st anniversary at Summerfields in Hazyview. After a long, windy and exhausting drive we were greeted by the most magnificent tented camp we have ever seen. The retreat is part of a farm that produces Roses, Macadamia nuts and Litchis and produces it's own produce for use in their outstanding kitchen. Rooms were unbelievably comfortable and showering (or bathing) in a private, open area is truly a treat. A small downside is a very tempremental wifi in room but all of the staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating. Special mention must be made of Keith and "Mary Poppins" who went way beyond their contracts to ensure we had one of the most special days we have every had away from home. Dining wise, the dinners we expertly managed by Vincent. Expect quiet candlelight and superb meals and excellent service. The menu is limited and the dinner menu is decided on what is currently available in the gardens. Breakfast is an absolute treat and while the buffet menu could use substantially more variety, anything on the main menu is fresh and absolutely delicious. The spa was phenomenal with the sound of the river passing by I fell quietly asleep in the hands of experts. Sundowners at the boma with a warm fire is an incredible way to end every day. I CANNOT recommend Summerfields more highly. Their management, staff and attention to detail is what a spa and care is about. The only way to find out for youself is to go. As a couple needing a break away from it all or a Tourist looking for an African experience with 5* treatment you will not be disappointed!

"Close to heaven"

This is as close to nature and pure bliss as you can get - the " rooms " are luxury tented units, on wooden stilts, with a separate ( wooden ) bathroom, which included a panoramic wooden patio. We were in one of the river - front units. The view over he river and mountain in the background was spectacular. Breakfast and lunch is at the riverside caffe - the lazy river in the background a perfect backdrop. Dinners are truly special - the restaurant is a short drive to the top of the property, set amongst the herb and vegetable garden. The atmosphere is completed with large candelabras and the ever - present fresh roses. The food was exquisite and there is variety to suit all palates and even the most jaded foodie will struggle to find fault. With Summerfields being on a working rose and fruit farm, fresh roses are always present and bunches can be bought when you leave. While we had some miscalculations on the bill on check - out, my only real criticism was the spa - we had issues with the booking ( double booking ) and the treatments that we received were not the ones we had booked, and this had to be taken care of ( which it was but it was a tines blot on an otherwise perfect 5 days). This place is absolutely perfect if you want a combination of 5 star luxury in nature, good food and good wine

"Simply fantastic"

My wife just loved the pampering on her birthday! The setting, attention to detail, personalisation and fantastic food made this an unforgettable experience - unmatched in all our travels to date! Anneri is also the best masseuse I've ever come across (and we go at least once a week!).
